ich habe eine neue leidenschaft für mich entdeckt! neben kunst, mode, deaign und musik kann ich nun endlich auch fotografie dazuzählen. nun endlich ist wohl etwas übertrieben, da ich schon sehr lange und mit großer leidenschaft bilder knipse - eigentlich schon seitdem ich mir vor vielen jahren meine erste eigene canon gekauft habe. von da an begann ich tatsächlich mir selbst beizubringen, wie man mit einer spiegelreflexkamera korrekt umgeht. und, wenn ich das über mich selbst sagen darf, fühle ich mich ziemlich sicher im umgang damit und vor allem der technik, die dahinter steckt.

my new found passion next to art, fashion, design and music is photography. i guess it's not that new considering the fact that i've been passionate about taking pictures since a very young age. tipping the scales after purchasing my own canon a few years ago, i really began teaching myself how to handle a slr camera properly. and i might say so myself, i am pretty comfortable with all the technology behind it.

nachdem ich mit dem bloggen und der modefotografie angefangen habe, wurde mir schnell bewusst, dass ich nicht wirklich glücklich mit meiner kamera war. ich sah mir die bilder der blogger, denen ich folge, an und wurde immer unzufriedener mit der qualität meiner bilder. ich sagte mir: ich möchte diese unschärfe in meinen bildern auch! warum macht meine kamera das falsch?

natürlich stellte ich mir diese rein rhetorische frage nur, um den unumgänglichen kauf eines neuen objektivs hinauszuzögern. dadurch, dass ich eigentlich immer recht interessiert an technik war, versuchte ich und versuche es natürlich noch immer, zu verstehen, was verschiedene einstellung tatsächlich bewirken. und damit meine ich nicht nur dieses wenn ich diesen knopf drücke wird das bild heller oder dunkler oder sonst was wissen - ich wollte wissen, was der heller oder dunkler oder sonst was knopf in der kamera innendrin bewirkt.

after i started blogging and fashion photography i quickly discovered i wasn't happy with my camera for a hundred percent. i kept looking at all the other blogger pictures i follow and got more and more dissatisfied with the quality of my pictures. i kept saying to myself: i want that blurriness in my pics as well! why is my camera doing it wrong?

that rhetorical question was of course just so i can delay the long-lasting research to buy a new object lense. since i've always been very interested in technology, i always tried and am still trying to understand what different settings actually do. not just if i push that button the picture is brighter or darker or whatever - i wanted to know what that brighter or darker or whatever does inside the camera.

als ich den verschwommenen hintergrund in den bildern anderer blogger sah, wusste ich, dass die blende meines objektivs nicht geeignet war für meine bedürfnisse. um es kurz zu erläutern, unter f3.5, das war die maximale blende meines alten objektivs, versteht man die öffnung des objektivs und wie viel licht dadurch auf die linse fällt. die korrekte schreibweise wäre demnach eigentlich f/3.5 oder 1/3.5. es wäre an dieser stelle zu kompliziert zu erläutern, wie man auf diese zahl kommt, aber lasst es mich so sagen: je größer die nummer (f3.5 oder 1/3.5 ist demnach größer als f11 oder 1/11), desto unschärfer wird der hintergrund. und genau das war das problem. meine f3.5 linse war gut genug für portraitaufnahmen, aber keinesfalls für totalen oder halbtotalen. ich brauchte eine linse mit einer größeren blende. (schaut euch den unterschied zwischen meinen beiden objektiven hier an: f3.5 vs. f1.8)

when i saw the blurry background in the pictures of other bloggers, i new that the aperture of my camera wasn't appropriate for what i needed or wanted my pictures to be. you see, f3.5, that was the max of my old lense, indicates the opening of the lense and how much light goes into it. the correct spelling would acutally be f/3.5 or 1/3.5. it would be too technical to describe how to calculate that number. but let me just say the larger that number (f3.5 or 1/3.5 is of course larger that f11 or 1/11) the more blurry the background gets. that was the problem. my f3.5 lense was okay for portraits but not for full body pictures. i needed an object lense with a bigger aperture. (see the difference between my two lenses here: f3.5 vs. f1.8)

vor ein paar wochen konnte ich mich also endlich entscheiden, welches objektiv ich kaufen wollte. von da an begann ich schließlich all die kleinen dinge, details und sogar die natur mehr zu schätzen. es war der anfang einer neuen leidenschaft.

a few weeks ago i finally decided on what lense i wanted and purchased it. that's when i actually started to value smaller things, details and actually nature more. it was the beginning of my new found passion.
