i am a workaholic, that's for sure. once i have an idea stuck in my head, i intend to do nothing else until my work is completed. i know this might sound a bit silly, but that is just the way i function and the way i am the most productive.
for the last couple of weeks i had this sudden urge to do something, to actually be creative again. so i started thinking about what i wanted to do with my time when i was "free" from uni. i spent my hours before sleeping browsing through instagram, liking and screenshoting all those handcrafty and creative pictures, i got on my newsfeed and slowly but gradually developed an idea of what i wanted to do. i came across a few artists and designers of all sorts who were very much into weaving and knitting and all kinds of other stuff [@_jujujust_] [@warpedthreads] [@frunordstrom].
in one of my works for school, i developed this sense for wintery, blue-ish, cold colours and started trying out different colour palettes.
think about these typical winter days, when the snow falls down in this beautiful white, light blue colour. it covers up the dull green of the remaining autumnal grass. all the reds and oranges of the leaves are gone. the only remaining things are the beautifully pine green needles which are sticking out under the cover of snow. imagine being on top of a mountain, maybe spending the day out skiing with your family and having some quality time: the sunrise is a mixture of lavender, ice blue and warm grey and evolves into a beautiful lemony yellow which turns the snow into a shining sea of crystals.
i wanted to do something suitable for winter, something easy which had a twist to it; which was not something you would be seeing everyday on the streets. uniqueness is hard to achieve with the big pool of designers nowadays, but that is what makes the whole process interesting. it keeps it going because everybody wants to make something unique which has not been seen before.

soviel ist sicher: ich bin ein arbeitstier. wenn ich eine idee im kopf habe, tue ich meist nichts anderes, bis ich sie in die tat umgesetzt habe. das klingt vielleicht ein bisschen komisch, aber so funktioniere ich eben und bin am produktivsten.
schon seit einigen wochen wollte ich ungedingt wieder etwas kreatives machen. also begann ich, darüber nachzudenken, was ich mit meiner zeit anfangen mochte, sobald das semester um war. ich verbrachte die stunden vor dem einschlafen damit, instagram zu durchsuchen und alle kreativen fotos zu liken und zu screenshoten, was langsam aber sicher eine idee in meinem kopf formte. ich stieß auf einige künstler und designer aller art, die sich stark mit weben, stricken und vielen weiteren dingen beschäftigten [@_jujujust_] [@warpedthreads] [@frunordstrom].
in einem projekt für mein studium, entwickelte ich eine liebe für winterliche, kalt-blaue töne. also begann ich etwas herumzuspielen, um die perfekte balance to erlangen.
denk an die typischen wintertage, wenn es schneit und der schnee in den wunderschönsten weiß-blautönen die erde bedeckt. all das trockene gras verschwindet, genauso wie letzten überreste des herbstes: rot- und orangefarbene blätter werden ersetzt durch das wunderschöne grün der Nadelbäume, das unter der decke aus schnee hervorblitzt. stell dir vor, du wärst auf der spitze eines hohen berges, vielleicht beim skifahren mit deiner familie. der sonnenaufgang ist eine mischung aus lavendel, eisblau und warmen grau, das sich langsam zu einem erfrischenden zitronengelb entwickelt und den schnee in eine funkelnde kristalldecke verwandelt.
ich wollte etwas passendes für den winter machen, etwas einfaches, was doch heraussticht. einzigartigkeit ist in der heutigen modewelt nur noch schwer zu erzielen, doch das ist, was das ganze so interessant macht. jeder versucht, etwas zu schaffen, was es zuvor noch nicht gegeben hat.
